Mental Bout Max - 3Ds Max Training - What is the Modelling Series?

Hi everyone,

Got a little gap in the ever busy schedule here to add another
'infomercial' post for you!

This time I said we would give some thoughts as to why we have
added a 'Modelling Series' to our 3D studio Max training! Well,
as we have said a few times around the place already, doing a
series devoted to 3D Modelling was NOT something that we felt
there was a need for in the world of Max Training. Plenty of
stuff out there, and a lot of it done by very talented artists,
so we pretty much discounted modelling from our plans.

Enter MBM users and the dreaded feedback! :-)

We got quite a number of emails from our 'Projects' in which
people expressed their appreciation for some of the modelling
tips they had picked up from Joel along the way, and asked if
we would consider putting together some serious modelling
training!!

So we did some looking at the training available, we did some
thinking about how we could approach such a series and what the
best approach for users would be, and we came up with the
'Modelling Series'.

Basically this series will have a variety of Module 'types'
inside it. By that we mean that some will be purely focused on
info such as modules that will examine particular modelling tools
and modifiers.

Some will be purely example based walkthoughs where you will watch
(and hopefully follow along with) the creation of various models!

And some will deal with the 'theory' behind modelling and examine
the approaches and techniques used by different modellers.

NOW! the really neat thing about where we are taking this is that,
if modelling is ALL you are interested in, then thats cool, just
these modules will do you. BUT! if you want to follow the project
through into texturing, well we will be producing modules in the
'Shader Series' that will map and texture the model created in the
Modelling Series.

AND, if that is not enough then you can follow the next step into
the 'How To' series, to deal with setting up for a finished render!
So composition, lighting, render settings all to bring the whole
thing to completion as a finished Project.

THE REALLY COOL THING, is that the 'Shader' and 'How To' portions
of the project can be done in ANY rendering engine that we want,
and in that there is a BIG hint about where we are taking our MBM
training!

So, keep your eyes peeled, and your requests and emails coming in,
we hope you'll agree that it should be fun.

Regards
Bri & Joel
